peaches, East Hill style

“You can’t do that!” One of the most common things I hear. This year was the first year our peach tree produced fruit. We harvested 21 full sized peaches from our yard. The tree was a gift from our beloved neighbor, rescued from the clearance section at the K-mart one fall afternoon. I promptly planted it in the middle of our strawberry patch. It grew each year, but didn’t flower until this spring. I estimate it is five years old. I have no idea what variety it is. The peaches were DELICIOUS. Some had a little surface spotting and insect damage, but most were plump, firm tasty peaches with actual peach flavor.
